Sustainability & QEHS

The Sustainable Development Goals are our common agenda and a call for action to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. If we are to achieve a more sustainable society, every business must act to contribute towards reaching the SDGs.

For BEWi Energy the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a shared vision and a call for action to work towards dealing with our common challenges. BEWi Energy use the SDGs as our compass - guiding us as we continuously develop ourselves, set ambitions and engage with our partners to find new ways to create value which delivers environmental, social and financial success.

In 2050, we live well, within the planet’s ecological limits. Our prosperity and healthy environment stem from an innovative, circular economy where nothing is wasted and where natural resources are managed sustainably, and biodiversity is protected, valued and restored in ways that enhance our society’s resilience. Our low-carbon growth has long been decoupled from resource use, setting the pace for a safe and sustainable global society (EUs 7th environmental action program).

BEWi Energy have four focus areas where we will strive to improve and contribute in making an impact towards the Sustainable Development Goals. These focuses areas are:

Being a circular business
We only have one planet with limited resources. Our current consumption and production patterns rely on borrowing the earths future resources to operate our present economy, where natural resources are being bobbled up faster than the earth can replace them. Since sustainable consumption and production aims at “doing more and better with less,” we believe that it will be possible to contribute to value creation and at the same time reducing environmental impact and increasing quality of life.

Reducing marine plastic littering
Marine plastic littering is one of the most challenging environmental problems we face today. Every year, an estimated eight million tons of plastic waste enters the worlds ocean. This volume is expected to double by 2030 and quadruple by 2050. If we don’t act, there will be more plastic than fish in the sea 30 years from now. Our ambition is to be a leading and preferred actor when it comes to prevention, collection and recycling from marine plastic littering.

Partnership for the goals
In order to meet our goals for a more sustainable development we are dependent to work together. BEWi Energy will work internally within our organisation and collaborate with governments, external experts, our partners, clients and other stakeholders to create shared value and promote sustainable production and consumption.

Safe and secure working environment
Bewi Energy top management all come from industries requiring very high quality and extreme focus on EH&S QHSE. As a result, we have introduced new guidelines to all our employees to make sure we have workplace safety on top of our mind. “Do things right the first time” equals high quality and positive customer experiences. NO waste from our activity shall be treated outside our guidelines and this has led a well-established organization in to an “environmental police” force.
For us it is important to work towards an inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work. We aim to do this by focusing on higher levels of productivity through diversification, technical upgrading and innovation.

“We believe that the winners of the future will be those who develop and produce products and services in a way that unites global social and environmental responsibility with their own profitability”.
